What is veterinary dentistry and who should perform it?
Veterinary dentistry includes the cleaning, adjustment, filing, extraction or repair of your pet's teeth and all other aspects of oral health care.
The process begins with an oral examination of your pet's mouth by our in-house expert veterinarians. The Radiographs (x-rays) evaluates the condition of your pet's jaw and tooth roots below their gum line. Because most dental disease occurs below the gum line, where you can't see it, a thorough dental cleaning and evaluation are performed under anesthesia. Dental cleaning includes scaling (to remove dental plaque and tartar) and polishing which is similar to the process used on our teeth during your regular dental cleanings.
Oral health in dogs, cats, and other small animals
Your pet's teeth should be checked at least once a year by your veterinarian for early signs of a problem and to keep your pet's teeth healthy.
Get your pet's teeth checked sooner if you observe any of the following problems:
Bad breath Poor oral hygiene of your pets leads to bacterial invasion in their mouth. It leads to plaque buildup, thereby causing bad breath. Broken or loose teeth Sometimes, chewing hard toys or bones might lead to broken teeth. In addition to this, the presence of bacteria in the mouth of your pet can also damage a pet's teeth. So take care of your pet's oral hygiene. Extra teeth or retained baby teeth Extra teeth in your young friends cause oral discomfort. Ensure regular dental checkups that will allow for early detection and therefore better management. Teeth that are discoloured or covered in tartar Dental discoloration can be a sign of a dead tooth that poses a major health risk to your pets. Regular dental care can ensure the same is averted. Bleeding from the mouth Regular brushing of your pet's teeth is a vital aspect for pet owners. Gingivitis or periodontal diseases cause inflammation in your pet's mouth. Bring them to our expert dog dentists who can provide them relief from mouth bleeding issues. We, at DCC animal hospital, endeavour to offer dog or cat dental care besides taking care of other companion pets as well. Housing a team of experienced veterinarians, we are among the best pet dental care service providers in Delhi & Gurugram.
